While Gary Payton is known as one of the all-time best defenders, he also was a huge offensive threat. As a point guard, he averaged 16.3 points and 6.7 assists per game. In 2001, Payton had his highest-scoring game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored 44 points with seven rebounds, nine assists, and four steals. That same season Payton notched 737 assists which was the most of his career. In the 1999-2000 season, Payton had his best scoring season as he scored 1982 points in 82 games. Payton appeared in the NBA Finals on three different occasions in his career and won it all in 2006.
