The Nashville Predators have built their championship-level organization with hungry, talented, and tough all-around skaters. For the Preds, a fast skater doesn’t mean much if he can’t finish, a bulky defenseman doesn’t always equal toughness, and a powerful finisher isn’t valuable if he can’t also locate an open teammate. So their selection of Finnish right wing Eeli Tolvanen in the first round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft came as no surprise. He’s elusive with the puck on his stick, is confident and accurate with his shot and doesn’t shy away from playing defense. He had a cup of coffee with the Predators in the first two seasons after being drafted and is ready for a significant role on a top line.
