Gabby Douglas made a lasting impact on gymnastics in America, and on American Olympic sports as a whole. The Flying Squirrel announced her presence on the big stage in the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she advanced to the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam finals, as well as the team final. Douglas would win the all-around gold medal as well as the team gold medal, becoming the first ever American gymnast to win both in the same Olympics. She also became the fourth gymnast to receive the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Douglas earned another spot with Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she won another team gold medal, which was her third gold medal in her career. With a historic career that still is not complete, Gabby Douglas was recognized in 2025 by being inducted into the United States Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame. Her contributions to the Olympics has cemented her as one of the greatest athletes to perform for Team USA.
