The mark of a great player and leader is the ability to overcome setbacks. The first two seasons of Darius Garland’s NBA career were filled with high-quality individual moments but a whole lot of losses. In his debut season of 2019-20, he started 59 games, losing 42 of them. The 2020-21 season saw Garland start 50 games in the bubble. The Cavaliers would end up winning just 18 of them. Even though Garland was improving, the wins weren’t coming. But the tide started to turn early in his third campaign. He surpassed that 18-win total before the calendar turned to January. That meant through Garland’s first 31 starts of 2021-22, the Cavs went 19-12. During that impressive turnaround, the talented point guard had 11 double-doubles and his first career triple-double. The future is bright in Cleveland with Garland at the point.
