Despite thriving in the CHL and for Team Canada, nothing could have prepared Alexis Lafrenière for making his NHL debut at the most iconic venue in all of sports, Madison Square Garden. On January 14, 2021, the 19 year old phenom graced NHL ice for the first time in a 4-0 opening night loss to the New York Islanders. Although the Rangers dropped the game to their inner state rivals, Lafrenière looked to take advantage of all opportunities that came his way as he managed to get a shot on goal, make a big hit, and block a shot during his 15 minutes on ice.
